THIS IS US

Love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. The second is equally important; love your neighbor as yourself. Matthew 22:37-39

Our Mission

In Matthew 28, Jesus gives us what we call "The great commission." Through Jesus' words, god gave the disciples a mission to reach the world with the good news. All are forgiven of sin and that Jesus died on the cross to restore them back to a relationship with God.

Our mission is the same. We are called to make disciples, and god has given us stone county as our field to harvest. We have a dream of a bible believing Christian in every home in stone county. our job is to baptize and teach those believers to continue to share that same good news.

FAQS

What Denomination are you?

We are free in Jesus and have no denomination or parent organization. We are simply a fellowship of Christians who want to understand and practice the Word of God as honestly as possible, without having to interpret it through tradition-tinted glasses.

The only limitations to our freedom are those that we find in the Word of God.

  • We are not bound by man-made creeds or traditions.

  • We do not have to defend some institutional position. Our only concern is to defend the Word of God.

  • We are free in Jesus—free to speak where the Bible speaks and free to use Spirit-guided judgment where the Bible is silent, and free not to let our opinions become traditions.

How does your leadership work?

Our Elders set the spiritual direction of our church and the vision of the Kingdom Work God has in mind for this community.  Each Elder is nominated by our current Elder board through the guidelines set forth in 1 Timothy 3:1-13 and serves for a year as a learning disciple.  After that year, they are then set before the church community to vote on.  If the church approves, they become a member of the Elder board.  Elders serve in two year terms before they are voted upon again by the church.

Our staff are a group of Godly men and women who have been called by God into vocational ministry.  The staff’s primary role is to bring to life the vision set forth by the Elders.  They are responsible for they day to day operations of the church, as well as their specific ministry roles. The staff is hired by the Elders, with input from a select group of individuals nominated by Elders and current staff.

What time does your service start?

10 am every Sunday morning.  Our worship service is a contemporary mix within a casual environment.  Feel free to dress up in a suit, or come in blue jeans, we believe God loves us as we are, and leads us to better places.

Do you offer children's ministry?

Yes!  we offer programs for birth through 6th grade.  We believe children aren’t just the future of the church, but that God welcomes them to be a part of the church right now.  Because of that conviction, we have taken a radical approach and challenge every 7th-12th grader in our church to get plugged into a ministry and serve from 9-10am, and join in worship service at 10am.

How can I get plugged in?

First off, let’s take a moment and celebrate!  We are so glad you want to get plugged in here at First Christian.  We encourage you to check out our Next Steps page, several options for you to choose from based on the place you are in with your relationship to Jesus, complete with small group information, serving opportunities, and other ways you can be a part of the Kingdom. Select the next step for you and dive in!

What do you believe?

We could spend a long time answering this question, but the short version of it is this:

God is the Creator, Sustainer and Ruler of the universe. He is all-powerful, all-knowing and ever-present. He is both perfect and personal.

The Trinity: God has revealed Himself in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Jesus Christ is the one and only son of God who died for our sins and arose from the dead. He lived a perfect human life.

The Bible is the inspired Word of God and is relevant for life today.

Every Person has worth as a creation of God, but that all have sinned and fall short of His glory. As a result, all are lost, without hope, apart from Christ and in need of salvation through Him.

Forgiveness of Sins and the promise of eternal life is available to all who trust Christ as Savior and Lord.

Saved by Grace: God is doing for us what we could not do for ourselves. Accepting Christ is a personal decision. We respond by believing that Jesus is who He claimed to be, by turning to the Lord, confessing our faith, and being baptized.

The Holy Spirit dwells in the heart of every believer to help us become more like Jesus. He is our comforter and counselor.

The Church is the body of Christ in the world today and consists of all Christians everywhere.
